Guppledorf

University Final Major Project: I had the privilege of Directing this project, working with 3 other students from my University. As there were a small number of developers on this project, we all had multiple jobs. Guppledorf is a story of self-worth, friendship, and true beauty. This was an extremely ambitious project that had to be altered a lot to produce in time for a deadline.

Concept Art

When making the pitch deck for my University I came up with plenty of concept art to visually describe my ambitions to everyone, once I had my team, we continued to make more concept art as the ideas were added and the narrative was developed. Originally, the adventure was going to be much grander and more of the surface world was to be explored until it was scrapped as the story was far too long for the time limit we had. The idea was to create a calm, muted surface world and make the underwater world vibrant and beautiful.

We had lots of fun creating a wizard-y feel with Guppledorf and his home, whilst making it look very odd and charming.

Next came the creation of the characters and the environments, I modeled and rigged Boblin: the blobfish, and the wizard hut that Guppledorf lives in, using Autodesk Maya and textured everything using Substance Painter. Here are some examples of my work:

Production

Next is animation! I delegated different scenes to different team members for easier portfolio work. Here are some of the scenes I animated in an experimentation reel. This includes my animation test, animated shots, animatic, and reference videos.
